Google Pixel 6 Voice Typing Stopped Working

google pixel voice typing stropped working

Google Pixel 6 voice typing has stopped working. Seems like a software bug.

*Update: Yesterday on January 12, 2022 – Google Pixel 6 voice typing, just started working again.

After getting a new Google Pixel 6 a month ago from T-mobile, my voice typing has stopped working twice.  I was able to fix it for the first time, however РI have been working on this for a whole day.

I even factory reset the Pixel 6 and voice typing is still not working ūüôā

Here are the recommendations from Google on how to fix the voice typing issue.

*** These steps did not work for me

I understand that Google voice typing has stopped. Not to worry, I will help you here with the steps to fix this.

Before we proceed, please check if you have any software updates. If yes, then please update it.

Check the following in your system settings:

  • On some Android devices, Gboard is already the default keyboard. To make sure that your device has the most recent version,¬†check for updates.

Below are the steps:

– Go to Phone’s Settings.
– Under ‘Language & Input’. In some cases it might be under Gboard.
– Find “Google Voice Typing”, make sure it’s enabled
– If you see¬†“Faster Voice Typing”, switch that on.
– If you see ‘Offline Speech Recognition, tap that, and install / download all languages that you would like to use

Note: if your preferred language does not have an offline voice available under Google Voice Typing, you must choose a language that does and make it your default language. Go back to ‘Google Voice Typing’, and select the languages you want to use under ‘Languages’.

Go back to ‘Language & Input’, and select the same languages again. Then select your primary language. Note that this must be one of the ‘Offline Languages’ you downloaded and installed first. A common problem is that the default language is not available as an offline voice. For example, en-NZ is not available offline so you must use en-US or en-GB as your default language (but you can keep en-NZ as a secondary language)

If the issue persists, please follow the below steps:

Clear Cache of the Google Keyboard app.

  1. Go to Settings > Apps & notifications > See all apps > Google Keyboard or Gboard.
  2. Tap Storage.
  3. Tap CLEAR CACHE.
  4. Try using the app again
  5. Tap CLEAR STORAGE and then OK.

Check for app updates.

  1. Open the Play Store app.
  2. Tap More > My apps & games > go to the Installed tab.
  3. Find the Google Keyboard or Gboard app. If available, tap Update.

Force stop and uninstall app updates.

  1. Go to Settings > Apps & notifications > See all apps > Google Keyboard or Gboard.
  2. Tap Force stop > OK.
  3. Tap More in the top right > Uninstall updates > OK.

I hope the above information is helpful.

If the issue persists, please reply to this email. I will be happy to help.
